About

I developed a passion for photography at the tender age of 11.  But I decided to play it safe and study Business Engineering at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), where I worked after my studies as a research assistant. I then developed a fifteen-year career as management, sales and marketing professional in tech startups. In 2004 I returned to university to teach growth-oriented entrepreneurship and innovation to a wide range of students.

A benign midlife crisis in 1996 prompted me to reassess my priorities. I became a part-time professional photographer / journalist, contributing to major Belgian magazines and newspapers, including Weekend Knack, De Morgen, Humo, De Standaard, P-Magazine... Over the course of a decade, my work appeared in nearly 100 publications.

My first speciality is festivals and events.  I covered extensively the Belgian festival and events scene. Travels are my other passion. I visited a/o India, Vietnam, Ukraine, Costa Rica, China  and the USA.

Combining these two passions led to some memorable assignments. I was among the very first to publish in a Belgian magazine on the extraordinary Burning Man festival, held in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert. I also covered the Carnival of Salvador da Bahia in Brazil and the  Full Moon Party in Koh Phangan, Thailand. Most of the time I also wrote the articles.

My work has been recognized for their artistic value. My photographs has been exhibited in a number of exhibitions over the years.

Major health issues stopped my photography career around 2010. Currently, having reached my retirement age at university I am returning to professional photography .
